For the operation of retrofit LEDs on conventional leading edge and trailing edge dimmers, the additional circuit is an indispensable aid. As a rule, dimmers require a minimum load. This minimum load is not achieved by saving energy with replacement (retrofit) lamps. The electronic additional circuit intelligently compensates the missing minimum load for the dimmer without increasing the power consumption. This means that energy is not used unnecessarily for base loads.
When dimming, it should be noted that this must be approved by the manufacturer of the lamp. This is indicated by the words "dimmbar" or "dimmable". Depending on the manufacturer and type, dimming is possible in different areas and with different dimmers. The specifications of the lamp manufacturer should also be observed here. The incandescent lamp is an ohmic consumer, the retrofit lamps have electronic ballasts built into the base. These ballasts cause the conventional dimmers problems with "zero point detection" and "mains synchronization". This manifests itself by flickering during dimming, or the lamps cannot be controlled completely dark.
Our dynamic base load DGL-01-UP provides a remedy for such problems. The base load prevents interference currents which may be caused by radio interference suppression components and improves the network recognition of the dimmer, which ultimately leads to the optimisation of the dimming result.
Some LED lamps are of poor quality and still cause problems. To test in advance if the DGL-01-UP can help, the easiest way is to hang a normal light bulb or a halogen lamp parallel to it. If this helps, then the DGL also works and you still save electricity.
