Frauenried Church

In the best light - now the pilgrimage church shines again!

The church was built in the middle of the 15th century by Earl Georg von Waldeck as a pilgrimage church for his rescue from Turkish captivity. The Catholic church is a late Gothic building, the upper floor of the tower and the interior of which were baroqueized by 1763.
The interior of the church was renovated in the 1960s and the exterior in the 1970s - a long time ago.

Mix of styles inside the church

The church is a late Gothic hall building with a choir and north bell tower, the interior of which was baroqueized in the second half of the 18th century. The Gothic ribs of the vault were removed and replaced with a rocaille stucco painting and frescoes depicting scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary.
The main altar in rococo style contains a late Gothic image of the Virgin Mary and figures of St. Catherine and St. Apollonia. The two side altars depict the Holy Family and St. Sylvester. Passion paintings from the 16th century were uncovered in 1960.

Lighting design that underlines the beauty

The lighting design by CE Späth together with the lighting control system from Seebacher has done some real renovation work here. Originally, the somewhat grayed church frescoes and stucco were almost in need of renovation. The result not only pleases church visitors, but also the archdiocese can now invite people to Holy Mass for many more years with an impressive sacred building. Renovation is no longer an issue.

Seebacher built a central switching unit that now ensures the smooth functioning of the entire lighting control system, whether for mass or cleaning activities!

Comfortable usability for great effect

The church lighting is operated via a wall touch with predefined lighting scenes at the entrance to the sacristy. Particular attention was paid here to usability.

Accentuating altar lighting

The altar is accentuated as required by five-part spotlights and spotlights. The focus of the light can thus be placed on the tabernacle with exposition niche and/or the Gothic Madonna by Erasmus Grasser (around 1500). On the left and right sides of the altar, slightly offset to the rear, there is a linear lamp each that makes the altar appear particularly free-standing and underlines its sacred significance.

Classy gallery lighting

The staircase and the area under the gallery were fitted with three high-contrast eight-part surface-mounted luminaires. The visitors' gallery with its simple historic wooden panel ceiling is illuminated by eight discreet, powerful four-part surface-mounted ceiling luminaires.

There is a pendant light for the organist in the organ loft, together with two surface-mounted ceiling lights. The light can be operated here with a manual control unit, as well as in the entrance area. The detailed lighting control option is located at the entrance to the sacristy as described above.

Design luminaires, made for a sacred building

The main lighting in the nave consists of six exclusive pendant luminaires from Tölz-based lighting design specialists Elke and Christian Späth. Their task is to brighten up the rows of seats and provide high-contrast light, even at low dimming levels, which ensures comfortable reading of hymn texts and psalms.
The rosette-shaped luminaire components, which resemble plant-like sepals, act as wallwashers and illuminate the ceiling and the frescoes with scenes from the life of Mary.

ISYGLT enables this slimline luminaire design and ensures cost-saving maintenance

The main advantages of our premium dimmer LED-04B-ANA-DMX are analog dimming, an extremely wide control range with the option of analog operation down to 0.001 % and the option of mounting the dimmers up to 50 meters away from the luminaire. This enables the lighting designer to design the luminaires individually, without taking ballasts into account. It also makes accessibility for maintenance much easier. The components can - as here - simply be housed in a distribution board, e.g. in the loft. Detailed documentation is included as standard. The thermal management of the operating modules is exemplary and safe.

Our LED-04B-ANA-DMX is 100 % camera-compatible, which plays a major role in wedding ceremonies and christenings.

The following ISYGLT modules were used:

  • NT24V/1,0A-S, System Power Supply
  • NT-LED-48V-10A, System Power Supply
  • CC-03-SL-USB, Compact-Controller
  • IN-04B REG, IN Module with 4 digital inputs
  • LED-04B-ANA-DMX, LED Dimmer
  • WT-G-07s-UP, Operating Element (Wall-Touch)
